UNHCR | Gender-Based Violence Awareness Posters

A series of illustrations created for a UNHCR campaign in Bangladesh under the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy, aimed at raising awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) in Rohingya refugee camps. The project visually represented key contributing factors to GBV, its different forms, and community-driven solutions across 4 posters. The illustrations were designed to resonate with the target audience by reflecting the cultural and social context while effectively conveying important messages in an accessible and impactful way.

Poster 1: Contributing Factors, the illustrations depict issues such as poverty, alcohol and drug abuse, polygamy, and the lack of livelihoods and educational opportunities, all contributing to gender-based violence.

Poster 2: Types of Gender-Based Violence illustrates various forms of GBV, including physical assault), emotional abuse, sexual assault, and denial of resources.

Poster 3: Solutions presents visuals of community-based initiatives like Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS), where women are invited into a safe space; Men and Boys Sessions (MRM); Girl Shine sessions at a GBV facility; and SASA! Together, where refugee activists engage the community in discussions about GBV prevention.
