The experience of the celebration flows from a vibrant morning mela into an immersive night, closing again at sunrise, bringing people together to celebrate the Bengali New Year through music, art, and shared moments.
The design approach was to reinterpret Boishakh through a fresh, contemporary lens, connecting electronic music culture with a visual language that moves beyond the familiar reds and yellows often seen during this time. Drawing from the vibrant palette of Prime Now, the identity leans into bold blues, greens, and pinks to stand apart amidst the many celebrations across Dhaka and beyond. Each cultural motif- horses, clay dolls, masks, instruments, and florals was hand-drawn stroke by stroke, colour by colour, with the intention of creating richness without chaos. It became an exploration of how age-old symbols can be reimagined for a platform aiming to take Pohela Boishakh to a more global stage.
Developed over the course of a month, the project included the overall visual direction and creation of core design assets. The scope also included a set of adaptable templates for social media and digital use, designed to be interpreted and applied by the BFC team and collaborators across different touchpoints, with which the different teams engaged in their own ways.
The scope also extended into a wide range of print and spatial applications, including stage entry banners, signages, standees, entry gate design, wristbands, ID cards, photobooth elements, Festival Map and merchandise like tote bag, posters, stickers, notebooks, etc. - bringing the visual language into a full, immersive festival experience.
